Archbishop Olumakaiye was ordained a Deacon in June 1993 and a Priest in December 1993. Archbishop Olumakaiye served as the first Dean of the Cathedral Church of St Matthew’s Ijebu-Jesa in Osun State’s Ijesa North Diocese. Prior to the formation of Ijesa North Diocese, he was the Vicar of the Church and Archdeacon of Ijebu-Jesa Archdeaconry.

He raised the Archdeaconry to the rank of Diocese. Indeed, it is difficult to ignore his ministerial work in a field that extends beyond the Anglicans. Together with his mission companion, the Prophesying Professor, Motunrayo, they not only built lives, but the infrastructures they left behind are an everlasting testament to their life and time in Ijebu-Jesa and environs.

He was consecrated Bishop on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at the age of 40 in Yenagoa, Niger Delta West Diocese, Bayelsa State, and enthroned as the pioneer Bishop of the newly created Osun North East Diocese on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Cathedral Church of St Philip’s Otan Aiyegbaju, Osun State.

True to his divine makeup and with the help of his ordained mission partner Prof Mrs. Olumakaiye and the wonderful people of Osun North East Diocese, Archbishop Olumakaiye witnessed an extraordinary spiritual and physical change of the fledgling Diocese.

Many people, including Muslims, found fresh life and healing in Jesus – individuals, families, businesses, educational institutions, and emotional transformation. The episcopacy of this magnificent child of God experienced colossal successes in infrastructure, with records of multi-million naira Bishop’s court, a chapel, a library, and a Resource Centre.

The Diocesan Headquarters, a multipurpose hall, the Bishop’s office Complex, schools in several cities throughout the Diocese, and many additional structures to God’s glory. The construction of a Prayer Mountain and a Prayer City in the diocese is the highest of these infrastructure records, even as numerous new churches were established, some of which were supported directly by Archbishop Olumakaiye’s family.

His contribution to the development of the area was so significant that the paramount monarch of Otan-Aiyegbaju designated a large area after him, naming it ‘Bishop Olumakaiye City.’ It is not a surprised, this feat was mentioned in the memo published by the Lagos Diocese early today to announce his transition.
