Igboeze INEC Office in Enugu Sets on Fire by Arsonists. Hoodlums have launched another attack in Enugu State at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Igboeze South Local Government Area.
According to verified sources, the hoodlums arrived at the INEC office located in Ibeagwa Aka at around 10: 45 pm on Sunday night. They set the office on fire and left.
Burnings of Public properties like INEC offices have become the bane recently. Just yesterday, the Independent National Electoral Commission at the Anambra state capital was set ablaze by hoodlums. The Police Division B behind the Secretariat was attacked, leaving many policemen injured.

The Punch reporter who reported the Igboeze INEC incident said the hoodlums succeeded in burning just one room at the INEC office before the arrival of the State Fire Service who battled to put out the fire that same night.
When asked Indegenes of the Igboeze Community, they confirmed the report and said it was only one office that got burnt. That is, only one room in the INEC office was burned by the fire. They also told the reporter that State Fire Service came out immediately they were alerted swiftly into action.
Recall that it is just barely one-week INEC office at the State Headquarter, Enugu was attacked and set on fire by hoodlums. It was reported that about 14 vehicles and other valuables were burnt. It is now a total of 3 INEC Offices in Enugu that was set on fire by hoodlums in the space of 2 weeks.
However, the situation at Igboeze INEC Office recorded fewer damages. The Enugu State Chief Fire Officer, Okwudili Ohaa, who confirmed the attack to our correspondent said the situation had been brought under control.

In his words, he said, “There was a fire outbreak at INEC Office, Ibagwa in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area late Sunday night. We responded promptly, the situation is under control and we have extinguished the fire.
“It was only one room that was affected by the fire.”
Meanwhile, reactions to the incident are yet to be heard from the Enugu INEC headquarters. Also, all calls made to get the spokesman, Mr. Pius Ezeh, were unsuccessful. He is yet to answer his calls as the press time.
