Topic: HEAR THIS COLONEL! WHEN BATTLES SEEM IMPOSSIBLE!

BASIC SCRIPTURES: HABAKKUK 2: 1 – 8; PSALM 42

HABAKKUK 2: 1 – 8    I will stand at my watch
    and station myself on the ramparts;
I will look to see what he will say to me,
    and what answer I am to give to this complaint.[a]

The Lord’s Answer

Then the Lord replied:

“Write down the revelation
    and make it plain on tablets
    so that a herald[b] may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it[c] will certainly come
    and will not delay.

“See, the enemy is puffed up; ***Our Daily Manna Devotional (ODM) Wednesday 18 January, 2023
    his desires are not upright—
    but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness[d]
indeed, wine betrays him;
    he is arrogant and never at rest.
Because he is as greedy as the grave
    and like death is never satisfied,
he gathers to himself all the nations
    and takes captive all the peoples.

“Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying,

“‘Woe to him who piles up stolen goods
    and makes himself wealthy by extortion!
    How long must this go on?’
Will not your creditors suddenly arise?
    Will they not wake up and make you tremble?
    Then you will become their prey.
Because you have plundered many nations,
    the peoples who are left will plunder you.
For you have shed human blood;
    you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.

PSALM 42

1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
    When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
These things I remember
    as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
    under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
with shouts of joy and praise
    among the festive throng. ***Our Daily Manna Devotional (ODM) Wednesday 18 January, 2023

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
    the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.

By day the Lord directs his love,
    at night his song is with me—
    a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God my Rock,
    “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
    as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

There are times when God seems very far away. Prayers/answers seem delayed as the circumstances /problems seem to come like a flood, Jesus Himself once asked the Father, “Why have Thou forsaken Me (Matthew 27: 46); Have you ever felt forsaken or the nor-existence of God?

In his public interview with a major newspaper years ago in my country, a Rtd Colonel (names with held) who took part in the failed April 1990 military coup, in which some of his colleagues were caught and killed by firing squad, has this to say when asked by reporters how he escaped: “God works mysteriously. To attribute anything to that escape will be false. Our Daily Manna Devotional (ODM) Wednesday 18 January, 2023

That I could leave a place like Radio Nigeria where we were surrounded by loyal soldiers; if you don’t believe in God, this little man is telling you, please believe in God

 Think about that! Oh! God can make a way even at the last minute! Why are you discouraged in these, early days of 2023? Hear this: Prom today’s Ist scripture, the vision, answers, and breakthroughs tire for an appointed time – today’s text (Hab. 2: 3).

God was silent for close to 500 years between the Old /New Testaments, yet Jesus was born at the appointed time. God designs what we go through, but we decide how we go through them! Wow! Shout 7 halleluyahs now and determine to count your blessings this year and not your troubles!

Always remember this by H.M. Longfellow (1807-1 887); “Though the mills of God around slowly grind, yet they grind exceedingly small. Though with patience He stands waiting with exactness , grind them all.” in the midst of the conflicts of life, whether great or small, do not faint! God is overall.

God exists, He cares, and He is a help in trouble. Wail for Him!(Get your “\VARAGAINST HAMAN – 18” booklet now! It contains the 21-day worldwide fasting prayer points – January 7tli Hi 27th! Also, give out at least 10 copies of this ODM booklet!).
