The Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia state, has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday to hear the extraordinary rendition complaint brought by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s special counsel, announced this on Thursday in a statement captioned, “RE: Court to hear Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s extraordinary rendition case on October 4th.”
“On 4th October 2022, the Federal High Court, Umuahia will hear Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s extraordinary rendition action, which I filed before the court in March this year,” the statement added. Is There Public Holiday on Tuesday 4 October, 2022?
“The Suit is sui generis (of a peculiar class), and its primary goal is to correct the infamous wrongful removal or deportation or extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu, which is a clear violation of his fundamental rights under Article 12(4) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, as well as Chapter IV of the Nigerian Constitution.
“In addition to the rendition, I am asking the Court to redress the myriad violations that came with the rendition, such as the torture, the unlawful detention and the denial of the right to fair hearing which is required by law before anybody can be expelled from one country to the other. I am also seeking to halt his prosecution and restore him to the status quo before he was rendition on 19th June, 2021.” Aloy Ejimakor further explained.
Meanwhile, it is not yet clear if all the Eastern States will observe the Sit at home since the court appearance is taking place in Umuahia and Maazi Kanu will not be making appearance.
Is There Public Holiday on Tuesday 4 October, 2022?
No. There will not be a public holiday on Tuesday 4 October, 2022. Public Holiday to mark Nigeria 62nd Independence ends on Monday. But those living in the East should make further inquiries before leaving their houses on Tuesday 4 October, 2022 for security proposes.
In my opinion, Tuesday may be used as Sit at home as usual since Nnamdi Kanu’s hearing will take place in Umuahia appeal court. Is There Public Holiday Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 October, 2022?
