This latest development was announced by the Primate of the Church, The Most Rev Henry Ndukuba after the election with the house of the bishops in Abuja on Monday, 12th August, 2024 during the episcopal synod. Ven Prof Sam Ike Emerges the New Bishop Elect Anglican Diocese of Enugu
Archbishop Chukwuma was a bishop in Anglican Communion for 34 years. He was translated from the Diocese of Bauchi to Enugu in the year 1997. He retired at the age of 70, leaving the positions of Enugu Anglican Diocesan Episcope and that of the province.
Ven Sam Ike emerges the winner to occupy the vacant seat while the Rt Rev Sosthenes Eze, the bishop of Enugu North emerged as the new Enugu provincial Archbishop. The retirement of Archbishop Chukwuma created a vacant for the new election of the new Archbishop.
