The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Peter Nweke, who was tortured to death by hoodlums suspected to be loyalists of a rival party on March 18, 2023. Nweke was killed in the Umuezeokaoha community, Ezza North Local Government Area, where he was serving as his party’s agent during the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in the state.

The police spokesperson said the suspects would be arraigned at the end of the investigations. The police also urged members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to the arrest of the other 21 suspects declared wanted in connection with the crime. This is a reminder that political violence has no place in a democratic society and that those who engage in such acts will be brought to justice.
