Turkey’s President Congratulates Tinubu, Seeks for Closer Relationship. Turkey’s President, Tayyip Erdoğan, has extended his congratulations to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-elect, on his victory in the country’s presidential election held on February 25, 2023.
In a letter addressed to Tinubu, Erdoğan expressed his sincere congratulations and added that he believes Nigeria, as Turkey’s strategic partner, under Tinubu’s leadership, will continue on its path to a prosperous future. Erdoğan also noted the importance of improving relations between Turkey and Nigeria and that with joint efforts, the countries will develop friendly relations and close cooperation for mutual benefit.

The congratulatory letter is among a series of similar messages received by Tinubu from world leaders, including China’s President Xi Jinping, UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and France’s President Emmanuel Macron. These messages reflect the international community’s interest in and recognition of Tinubu’s victory in Nigeria’s presidential election.
