Abuja’s State House – President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Muhammad Sabo Lamido to be the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s Executive Commissioner, Finance and Accounts. According to Daily Trust, the president’s media aide, Femi Adesina, confirmed this in a statement on Monday, August 8, in Abuja.

Buhari stated in a letter to Senate President Ahmed Lawan that Lamido was nominated due to the death of Hassan Gambo, who held the position until his death. As a result, he urged the Senate to confirm the nominee ““in the usual expeditious manner”

President Buhari appoints three new officials. In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the appointment of three people as executive officers to three government agencies. Willie Bassey, the Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday, July 27.

Tijjani Kaura, Managing Director, Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority, is one of those appointed, and she will begin her three-year term on Monday, July 18. Augustine Umahi will be appointed Secretary, Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission, with effect from July 6.

The president also approved the reappointment of Capt. Junaid Abdullahi as Executive Secretary of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) for a four-year term. Buhari appoints a former lawmaker to the position of senior aide.

Similarly, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Nasir Ila as a new senior special assistant on matters pertaining to the National Assembly (House of Representatives). Umar El-Yakub, who was recently appointed minister, will be replaced by Ila. The new appointee is a chartered accountant who served in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015.

Sabo Mohammed Lamido was born on 11 January 1960. He was a Nigerian senator who represented Jigawa South West District in Jigawa State. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Lamido Sabo previously served on the Governing Board of the Federal University of Technology Minna. He also served as the Chairman of the Jigawa State Presidential Committee on Solid Minerals. He was a member of the Federal House of Representatives for two terms (2007-2011) and (2011-2015).

Sabo Lamido was appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream (Petroleum) Resources following the 2019 election. As a result, he was appointed to chair the Ad-hoc Committee on the long-standing PIB (Petroleum Industry Bill).
