Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, NN/1725, the newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, was born on December 20, 1968 in Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He received his WASC from the NMS Zaria in June 1987, graduating as the science department’s top student with an overall grade point average of A1 in eight courses.

He earned a BSc in Mathematics and received the Sword of Honour for being the top navy cadet in his class. Following that, he joined the 39 RC NDA.

On September 16, 1992, he was promoted to S Lt, and in 2021, he attained the rank of Rear Admiral. The highly esteemed officer graduated in May 2000 from the Junior and Senior Years of the STC NNS QUORRA, Basic Hydrography National Hydrographic School of India and Junior and Senior Staff Courses AFCSC Jaji in 2001 and 2006 respectively. He took part in NDC Course 22, and on August 14 he received a fdc. He participated in the University of Ibadan’s MSc Strategic Studies program from 2014 to 2015 as part of the Course.

Before being appointed, he served as the DLL NHQ. He imparted his vast knowledge of geodesy, datum conversion, tidal forecasts and analysis, satellite surveying, bathymetry, and other subjects during his whole 6-year tour of service at NNHS.
