In his Easter message, the clergyman specifically warned against the arrest of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed. He emphasized that such actions could cause further polarization in the country and lead to a scenario similar to that of 1964.
Prophet Alao called on the government to reassure opposition parties that they would receive a fair trial in court, where they had gone to challenge the outcome of the February 25 presidential election. He also advised Peter Obi to caution his supporters against making enemies for him by being mindful of their utterances and social media posts.
The clergyman stressed the importance of impartiality in adjudicating political cases before the judiciary, noting that the judiciary has a role to play in stabilizing the country. He urged the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to be magnanimous in victory and to ensure that his spokespersons refrain from overheating the polity. Prophet Alao highlighted the essence of Easter, which is to show love and sacrifice, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. He urged religious leaders to continue praying for peace and stability in Nigeria.

In his message, the prophet expressed concern over the level of polarization in the country, stressing the need for the Federal Government to engage opposition parties in a more diplomatic and constructive manner. He cautioned that any attempt to arrest and prosecute Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed on treason charges could further escalate tensions and cause unrest in the country.
He also urged political supporters to be mindful of their actions and statements, especially on social media, to avoid creating unnecessary enemies for their candidates. The Prophet emphasized the importance of the judiciary in stabilizing the country by being impartial in adjudicating political cases.
