On Tuesday, the Federal Government assured the public that the transition of power from the current President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, would be a smooth and peaceful process. The government also announced that the refurbishment of offices for the President and Vice-President elect had been completed. “Litigation won’t Stop Handover to Tinubu and Shettima” – Boss Mustapha.
Chairman of the Transition Committee, Boss Mustapha, addressed the media in Abuja and emphasized that litigation would not hinder the handover ceremony. He added that the committee had been active, and necessary facilities for the President and Vice-President elect were in place.
Mustapha stated that security personnel from the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Police Force had been deployed to the President and Vice-President-elect, and protocol officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Intelligence Agency had also been assigned to both individuals. He assured the public that the transition process was on track and that efforts were being made to ensure that it is smooth, with a peaceful formal transfer of power to the new President on May 29. “Litigation won’t Stop Handover to Tinubu and Shettima” – Boss Mustapha.
Regarding potential security concerns, Mustapha revealed that the security sub-committee had been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that no one interrupted the handover. All litigation, whether resolved or not, would not stop the process, and the President would not spend an extra day in office. The security committee would ensure that nothing happens to truncate the transition process. As part of the transition, Mustapha disclosed that four members of the President-elect’s team would be joining the Federal Government’s delegation to the spring meeting of the world bank. He also said that the Governor of Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu would be a part of the transition committee.Â
