But before that, I shall give you the secrets that have worked for me. This is my fourth pregnancy and each one had been hell for me except this present pregnancy. In fact, I was always on admission in the hospital due to the hell I went through in the hand of morning sickness.

However, I will say that this pregnancy is different this time around. Why did I say so? I said so because it wasn’t as usual. I didn’t cry like a kid because I didn’t know how I was feeling. There was no constant trip to the hospital to get drip because I felt no strength in me.

Although my fourth pregnancy came with the normal morning sickness. It came with the same fever, nausea, spit drolling, feeling of unwell, cold, and no appetite for food. It equally came with food aversion – I felt to throw up each time I thought about food, not even talking about seeing the food.

How to Beat Morning Sickness – What worked for me

1 There was no appetite to eat but I tried to eat.

I forced little food down my throat no matter how little. I discovered that any time I forced food down my stomach, morning sickness disappeared.

So, the number one secret is trying to eat even if you don’t have an appetite for the food. One or two spoons of food will go a long way to remedy the morning sickness at the moment.

2. I ate all the time

I have noticed that an empty stomach worsens morning sickness. Going to bed with a bite of something and waking up with a bite of something and warm water really helped a lot.

Eating always, no matter how small keeps the sour taste in the mouth away. Not only did I eat all the time, I also drank fluid (warm water) to be precise.

3. I ate plain food

The truth of the matter is that no matter how hard you tried to eat during morning sickness, you may not have the appetite. You may even throw up if you try to eat at that time.

During this period, I go for plain food. When I say plain food, I mean white rice, white yam, raw Garri (processed Tapioca or cassava). The foods I mentioned and others are morning sickness friendly. These are foods you can keep down your stomach while going through the stage of morning sickness.
